Product Description

The latest design from The Singing Machine, the leader in home karaoke consumer products, is the redesign to what is already one of the best selling concepts in karaoke history - "The Pedestal". The 2008 version of the pedestal found exclusively at Sam's Club introduces new technologies giving the ability to read and record from a USB thumb drive or any SD/MMC card. Bringing one of the most important features in the karaoke experience to the digital world, the pedestal allows you to immediately share your performance with your friends and family via e-mail or post it on your communal profile online or just play it back for personal review. We also added a removable top feature that now allows you to use your karaoke machine as a pedestal and/or a table top. This unit will play your CD/CD+G/DVD and it includes a microphone, full functional remote control and CD+G Sampler all at a great value

I almost purchased this yesterday and then saw that this was a Sam's Club exclusive. I instead went to Sam's to see the model in person and I am very glad I did. There are a ton of reasons NOT TO BUY this product. First is that the key control, mic volume control and echo control are ALL on the SAME function button, so you have to scroll thru till you get to your specific need (a pain!!!) On other models, all these controls are separate from each other and much easier to fine tune. They are preset on here instead of being a dial function so even tougher to really fine tune. Also, when you load in a CD, and you want to get to track 12 on it, you have to push the seek button, count to two, and push it again and keep doing that until you're at track 12. If you try seek too fast, it says "invalid key" and it takes you a good 45 seconds to get there. Third, the standby button, while a good idea in theory, should keep you where you are on the CD. Instead, it takes it all the way back to the beginning of the CD, so there you are again having to press the seek button, count to two, etc. Another drawback, it only comes with one microphone, and it's corded. Wireless would have been better. The last thing would be the two speakers on the side of the top of the unit itself...not so good. The tower is nice with good sound, but not the actual little ones.

A couple pluses, first machine I've seen that you can load in a memory card to record yourself and have it on mp3 format. That idea is awesome. If that's something you want, this is your machine. Lastly, the fact you can disconnect the top of the unit and set it on a table is a nice idea, again though, the little speakers are awful.

Go with the STVG-999...much better on control function and easier to navigate through a CD.
Not good at all!

I wish I would have seen the reviews for this product before I purchased it. I bought it at Sams Club for $99, however, the sound quality is very poor. The sound when you talk or sing into the microphone almost reminds me of a kiddie karaoke machine. I am definitely returning this product.

HATE IT..you can't hear yourself unless you turn the volume all the way up then the music is too loud..half the time your voice doesn't even come out of the speakers...got it at Sam's club for my 9yr old son...He was very upset since it was a Santa present. LOST THE RECIEPT so My husband called to company..they want to send a new mic out..I don't think it is the mic. Will try to get my money back..and get a different one.
