Making a list of the most popular karaoke songs is very subjective, although if everyone was asked to make a list, you will find common songs on almost everyone's list. They would most likely be the popular songs from when we grew up, current popular songs, and if you are like me, some favorites that were not all that popular, but are just down right fun to sing.
I love to sing, although I am not very good at it. It just has a way of picking me up even on a very bad day. Music has the ability to take you to a whole new world. But one of the problems I have is the constant flipping of cd's, because my favorites are spread out over my collection (of course they are not all on one magical cd that would be too easy haha).

So let's say you are going to throw a party and want to know, what kind of music will really get a party going? Well, it's going to be a combination of the oldies, mixed in with some of the current popular songs.
Everyone knows the classics like "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen or "I Got You Babe" by Sony and Cher. These can get everyone involved in the karaoke process and encourage people to hop on stage.
The best karaoke nights have a wide variety of songs for people to choose from. Everyone has that one song that they think makes them sound like Celine Dion (though most don't haha), so a big selection is crucial for people to participate.
Not every song is going to be a hit, so whenever the party starts to fizzle out, throw on another classic oldies song to get people back in the spirit. This technique is good for at least two or three rounds of fun, and most people won't even notice your strategy. They will be too busy trying to serenade their audience.
